Stretch Marks

November 21, 2024 by michaelboache

Finally we have a treatment that can really make a difference with your stretch marks

A stretch mark is a type of scar that develops when our skin stretches or shrinks quickly. The abrupt change causes the collagen and elastin, which support our skin, to rupture. As the skin heals, stretch marks may appear.

Not everyone develops these narrow bands on their skin. Fluctuating hormone levels seem to play a role. You may also have a higher risk if people in your family get stretch marks.

Our Approach and Expertise

Stretch marks—also known as striae—are a common skin concern that can appear during periods of rapid growth, weight change, pregnancy, or hormonal shifts. While harmless, they can affect how you feel about your skin. At The Center for Dermatology and Plastic Surgery, we offer effective, personalized solutions to help reduce the appearance of stretch marks and restore confidence in your skin.

Stretch marks often appear as red, purple, or silvery lines on the abdomen, thighs, breasts, hips, or arms. They form when the skin stretches quickly and the collagen and elastin fibers beneath the surface are disrupted. Over time, these marks may fade, but for many patients, they remain visible and bothersome.

Our board-certified dermatologists and experienced providers begin with a thorough consultation to assess your skin and discuss your goals. We then create a tailored treatment plan that may include fractional laser therapy, microneedling with radiofrequency, topical retinoids, or medical-grade skincare to improve texture, tone, and elasticity.

Whether your stretch marks are new or longstanding, our goal is to soften their appearance, stimulate collagen production, and support healthy skin regeneration. With a blend of advanced technology, expert care, and aesthetic sensitivity, we help you achieve smoother, more even-toned skin—and renewed confidence. From cosmetic enhancements to medical dermatology, The Center for Dermatology and Plastic Surgery is your trusted skin health partner.

Aging Skin

November 21, 2024 by michaelboache

Many signs of aging skin are caused my enviornmental factors. Environmental stress can be sun (UV exposure), pollution, diet and even just plain stress. In addition, we lose facial volume because our facial fat pads diminish as we age.

As a result the breakdown of these fibers causes laxity, wrinkles, and sun spots over years. Although we cannot completly stop the aging process we can use the below treatments to help your skin look its best at any age!

Our Approach and Expertise

Aging is a natural process, but its effects on the skin—such as fine lines, wrinkles, volume loss, sun damage, and uneven tone—can make many individuals feel less like themselves. At The Center for Dermatology and Plastic Surgery, we take a personalized, science-backed approach to helping you age confidently and gracefully.

Our experienced team of board-certified dermatologists and plastic surgeons understands that no two aging journeys are alike. We begin with a comprehensive consultation to assess your skin’s health, texture, tone, and elasticity, and listen closely to your goals. Whether you’re seeking subtle rejuvenation or a more transformative result, we develop a treatment plan tailored to your needs, lifestyle, and comfort level.

We offer a full range of advanced options to address signs of aging, including laser treatments, injectables (like Botox® and dermal fillers), chemical peels, microneedling, skin-tightening procedures, and medical-grade skincare regimens. For those considering surgical solutions, our plastic surgeons provide expert care with natural-looking results.

Our goal is not to change how you look—but to help you look and feel your best at every age. With a focus on long-term skin health and aesthetic balance, we combine trusted medical expertise with the latest technology to deliver results that are both beautiful and enduring. From cosmetic enhancements to medical dermatology, The Center for Dermatology and Plastic Surgery is your trusted skin health partner.

Skin Laxity

November 21, 2024 by michaelboache

Skin seems to become looser over time and this happens for a number of reasons. Center for Dermatology & Plastic Surgery has options to tighten skin on the face and body.

One cause of skin laxity is due to the effect of environmental stress on elastic fibers and collagen fibers in the skin. Environmental stress can be sun, pollution, diet and even just plain stress. In addition, we lose facial volume because our facial fat pads diminish as we age.

As a result the breakdown of these fibers causes laxity, increasing over years. Gravity combined with volume loss pulls the looser skin downwards. The face will show some “jowling” as early as the 30′s. Puffiness and bags under the eyes can also be due in part to skin laxity.

Our Approach and Expertise

As we age, our skin naturally loses collagen, elastin, and volume—leading to skin laxity, or a gradual loosening and sagging of the skin. Whether you’re noticing mild drooping along the jawline or more significant skin laxity on the face, neck, arms, or body, The Center for Dermatology and Plastic Surgery offers effective, personalized solutions to help restore a firmer, more youthful appearance.

Our expert team of board-certified dermatologists and plastic surgeons begins with a detailed consultation to evaluate the severity of skin laxity and identify the best treatment approach based on your goals, skin type, and lifestyle. We believe in natural-looking results and long-term skin health, which is why we combine leading-edge technology with proven techniques tailored to your unique needs.

Depending on your treatment plan, options may include non-invasive procedures like radiofrequency microneedling, ultrasound skin tightening (such as Ultherapy®), and laser therapies, or minimally invasive treatments like thread lifts or dermal fillers to restore structure and definition. For those seeking more dramatic or lasting results, surgical lifting procedures are also available, performed by our highly skilled plastic surgeons.

No matter your age or stage, our goal is to help you look refreshed, lifted, and confident—without looking overdone. At The Center for Dermatology and Plastic Surgery, you’re in expert hands every step of the way. Count on The Center for Dermatology and Plastic Surgery for expert, compassionate care tailored to your unique skin.

Melasma & Freckles

November 21, 2024 by michaelboache

What Are Melasma and Freckles?
Melasma and freckles are both types of skin pigmentation, but they differ in cause, appearance, and how they behave over time. Melasma is a chronic skin condition that causes irregular, blotchy patches of darker pigmentation—usually on the face, especially the cheeks, forehead, upper lip, and nose. It’s most commonly triggered by sun exposure, hormonal changes (such as during pregnancy or with birth control use), and genetics. Freckles, on the other hand, are small, flat, light to dark brown spots that appear on sun-exposed skin, especially in fair-skinned individuals. Unlike melasma, freckles often fade with reduced sun exposure and tend to appear more prominently in the summer. While both conditions are benign, many people seek treatment for cosmetic reasons or to achieve a more even skin tone.

Our Approach and Expertise

At The Center for Dermatology and Plastic Surgery, we specialize in treating pigmentary concerns like melasma and freckles with precision, compassion, and advanced dermatologic care. Whether you’re seeking to even out your complexion or address stubborn dark patches, our team offers customized solutions rooted in medical expertise and aesthetic understanding.

Melasma often appears as blotchy, brown-to-gray patches on the cheeks, forehead, nose, or upper lip and is commonly triggered by sun exposure, hormones, or pregnancy. Freckles, by contrast, are small, flat spots caused primarily by sun exposure and genetics. While both conditions are harmless, they can be frustrating or cosmetically bothersome for many patients.

Our board-certified dermatologists begin with a careful evaluation to distinguish between melasma, freckles, and other types of pigmentation. From there, we create a treatment plan tailored to your skin type, sensitivity, and lifestyle.

Treatment options may include topical lightening agents, chemical peels, laser therapies (such as fractional or pigment-specific lasers), microneedling, and comprehensive sun protection strategies. We also offer medical-grade skincare regimens to help prevent recurrence and maintain long-term results.

At every step, we prioritize skin health, safety, and natural-looking outcomes. Whether you’re managing melasma flare-ups or seeking a clearer, more radiant complexion, The Center for Dermatology and Plastic Surgery is here to guide your journey with proven care and personalized attention. The Center for Dermatology and Plastic Surgery: Advanced care for your skin, every step of the way.

Fat Reduction

November 21, 2024 by michaelboache

What Is Fat Reduction?

Fat reduction refers to non-surgical or minimally invasive treatments that target and eliminate stubborn fat deposits that are resistant to diet and exercise. Common problem areas include the abdomen, flanks (love handles), thighs, chin, upper arms, and back. While these treatments are not a substitute for weight loss, they can help refine body contours and enhance natural shape. Popular fat reduction methods include cryolipolysis (fat freezing), injectable treatments (like Kybella® for under-chin fat), and radiofrequency or laser-based fat reduction. These techniques work by breaking down fat cells, which are then naturally metabolized by the body over time—leading to a slimmer, more sculpted appearance without the downtime of surgery.

Our Approach and Expertise

At The Center for Dermatology and Plastic Surgery, we offer a comprehensive range of fat reduction treatments designed to help you look and feel your best—without the need for surgery. Our board-certified providers use the latest technologies and evidence-based techniques to safely and effectively target areas of unwanted fat with minimal discomfort and downtime.

Whether you’re bothered by a double chin, stubborn belly fat, or excess fullness in the thighs or arms, we start with a personalized consultation to understand your goals and assess your body’s unique contours. Based on your needs, we may recommend treatments such as CoolSculpting®, Kybella®, or other advanced body-contouring modalities that deliver gradual, natural-looking results.

With a focus on safety, precision, and aesthetics, our team works with you to achieve smoother, more defined contours—without compromising your natural proportions. At The Center for Dermatology and Plastic Surgery, our goal is to help you feel confident in your skin, using expert care you can trust. Trust The Center for Dermatology and Plastic Surgery for personalized, expert solutions for your skin.

Broken Blood Vessels

November 21, 2024 by michaelboache

What Are Broken Blood Vessels?

Broken blood vessels—also known as telangiectasias or spider veins—are small, dilated capillaries that appear just beneath the surface of the skin. They often show up as fine red, purple, or blue lines, most commonly on the face (cheeks, nose, and chin) or legs. These vessels can be caused by a variety of factors, including sun exposure, genetics, aging, rosacea, trauma to the skin, or lifestyle habits like alcohol use or extreme temperatures. While they are harmless, many people seek treatment to improve the appearance of their skin and restore a more even complexion.

Our Approach and Expertise

At The Center for Dermatology and Plastic Surgery, we offer expert diagnosis and advanced treatment options for broken blood vessels to help restore your skin’s clarity and confidence. Our board-certified dermatologists carefully evaluate the cause and location of your vascular concerns to recommend the most effective, minimally invasive solution.

We utilize state-of-the-art laser and light-based technologies—including vascular lasers like Excel V™ or Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) therapy—to precisely target and fade visible blood vessels without damaging the surrounding skin. Treatments are quick, safe, and require little to no downtime, making them ideal for busy lifestyles.

In addition to treating existing vessels, we guide patients on prevention strategies to reduce recurrence, including proper sun protection, gentle skincare routines, and avoiding known triggers like extreme heat or harsh exfoliants.

With a personalized approach and a commitment to both aesthetic and medical excellence, The Center for Dermatology and Plastic Surgery is your trusted partner in achieving clearer, healthier-looking skin.

Age Spots

November 21, 2024 by michaelboache

What Are Age Spots?

Age spots—also known as liver spots or sun spots—are flat, brown, gray, or black spots that typically develop on sun-exposed areas of the skin, such as the face, hands, shoulders, chest, and arms. They are caused by long-term exposure to ultraviolet (UV) light, which accelerates melanin production in certain areas over time. Although age spots are harmless and non-cancerous, they can resemble other types of skin lesions, so it’s important to have them evaluated by a dermatology professional. Many people choose to treat age spots for cosmetic reasons, as they are often associated with premature skin aging and uneven skin tone.

Our Approach and Expertise

At The Center for Dermatology and Plastic Surgery, we offer comprehensive, personalized care for the diagnosis and treatment of age spots, helping patients achieve clearer, more even-toned skin. Our board-certified dermatologists begin with a careful skin assessment to confirm the nature of your pigmentation and rule out any potentially harmful conditions, such as actinic keratoses or skin cancer.

We provide a range of effective, non-invasive treatment options tailored to your skin type and lifestyle. These may include laser treatments, chemical peels, cryotherapy, or topical brightening agents—each designed to safely reduce discoloration and stimulate skin renewal. We also offer advanced medical-grade skincare products to support long-term results and help prevent future pigmentation from forming.

Because sun exposure is the primary cause of age spots, we emphasize sun protection and preventive skin care as a core part of every treatment plan. With decades of experience and access to cutting-edge technology, our team is committed to helping you restore a more radiant, youthful complexion with results that look natural and feel empowering. Your skin is in expert hands with the dedicated team at The Center for Dermatology and Plastic Surgery.

Acne Scarring

November 21, 2024 by michaelboache

What Is Acne Scarring?

Acne scarring refers to the lasting marks left on the skin after moderate to severe acne has healed. These scars form when inflamed blemishes damage the deeper layers of skin, leading to tissue loss or excess collagen production. Common types of acne scars include ice pick, boxcar, and rolling scars, as well as post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation—dark spots that linger after breakouts. While acne itself can fade over time, scarring often remains unless treated, and it can affect both appearance and self-esteem. Fortunately, today’s dermatologic treatments offer highly effective solutions for improving skin texture and tone.

Scars, whether large or small, can be devastating for your self-esteem. In the past, surgical removal of scars was the only option. Think of scars as a result of the body trying to heal a wound as quickly and efficiently as possible. Sometimes this results in a “normal,” although visible, scar.

Our Approach and Expertise

At The Center for Dermatology and Plastic Surgery, we specialize in advanced, personalized treatments for acne scarring to help you regain smoother, clearer, and more confident skin. Our board-certified dermatologists begin with a comprehensive skin evaluation to determine the type, depth, and pattern of your scars, then create a customized treatment plan based on your skin type, goals, and comfort level.

We offer a wide range of clinically proven solutions, including microneedling with or without radiofrequency, fractional laser resurfacing, chemical peels, dermal fillers, and subcision. These treatments work by stimulating collagen production, remodeling scar tissue, and improving overall skin texture. For discoloration or residual redness, we may incorporate topical therapies or light-based treatments to further refine your results.

Our goal is not just to treat scars—but to restore your skin’s health and enhance your natural beauty. With state-of-the-art technology, deep clinical expertise, and a commitment to personalized care, The Center for Dermatology and Plastic Surgery is your trusted destination for effective acne scar treatment in Phoenix and beyond.

Thermage® (Face)

November 21, 2024 by michaelboache

Tighten loose skin on the face, neck, arms, knees, abdomen, thighs and buttocks with almost no downtime with Thermage®.

Thermage® Body is a non-invasive procedure that tightens and firms the body without surgery or injections. Cellulite smoothes out on the buttocks and thighs. Arms tighten up. Post-baby tummies firm up. There is no downtime so you can return to normal activities immediately following treatment. Only one treatment is typically needed, taking approximately 1-2 hours. Patients can expect to see mild to moderate skin tightening and smoother skin.

Overtime, our skin’s resiliency and elasticity decreases – especially after major life events like childbirth – and sometimes never returns to that smooth skin feeling. For most people, age brings with it areas of uneven or unsightly bulges that just can’t be remedied with exercise or diet. It’s skin – not fat – that often gets in the way of achieving the youthful look we all desire.

Our Approach and Expertise

At The Center for Dermatology and Plastic Surgery, we’re proud to offer Thermage® as part of our advanced portfolio of non-surgical facial rejuvenation treatments. Our board-certified dermatologists and experienced providers use Thermage® to help patients achieve tighter, smoother, and more youthful-looking skin—without needles, anesthesia, or recovery time.

We begin every treatment with a detailed consultation to assess your skin’s current condition, aging concerns, and aesthetic goals. Thermage® is often recommended for patients in their 30s to 60s who are noticing mild to moderate skin laxity but aren’t ready for surgical intervention. The treatment is comfortable and typically takes about 45–90 minutes, with results that continue to improve over several months as collagen renewal progresses.

Whether used on its own or as part of a broader anti-aging plan, Thermage® offers a powerful yet gentle solution for facial firming and contouring. At The Center for Dermatology and Plastic Surgery, we pair state-of-the-art technology with a personalized, medically driven approach to help you look refreshed, lifted, and confidently yourself.
