An aesthetician is a skin care specialist who can provide a number of services to treat acne, remove unwanted hair, and fight the effects of aging. Some aesthetician services include:
Chemical peels. Peels are used to treat and control acne, tighten skin, and soften and smooth skin. A chemical agent applied to the skin removes dead, dull skin cells, exposing new skin underneath.
Deep pore cleansing. For moderate to severe acne, deep pore cleansing opens and cleans out clogged hair follicles, including blackheads, whiteheads and blemishes.
Microdermabrasion. During this gentle alternative to dermabrasion, the skin is bombarded by tiny crystals that remove dead, dull skin cells and allow them to be replaced by fresh new skin.
Microdermabrasion reduces the look of fine lines, discoloration and sun damage while also boosting collagen production.
Electrolysis. Electric current is used to destroy hairs at their root. Electrolysis may be used to remove hairs that do not respond to laser hair removal.
